Barter…you’ve been doing it for years!

October 15th, 2009 · No Comments

Barter. Trade. Swap. Exchange. Just a few common words used to describe something we have all done since we were children. We’ve traded baseball cards, packed lunch items, Barbies, clothes, records, books, and even household chores! We wanted something and traded something we had for it. Everyone was happy. Why did you stop?

Barter is a fabulous way of conducting business by utilizing trades instead of cash. You are doing the same thing by bartering goods and services as you were when you traded your Johnny Bench baseball card for a Joe DiMaggio card. Without cash, you get something your want or need. Some people think that bartering in business is different than when you were a kid. It’s no different; the same premise applies. When you conduct a trade, you do not discount the value of the goods or services you are trading. The value remains the same as a cash customer.

When you join a barter exchange, you will expose your company to potential customers. You will also have more options for conducting business. For example, if you were hoping to develop a website for your business in the upcoming months, you now would have an option to barter with a website design firm. You could get that site up and running earlier by utilizing the advantages of barter.

So, do what you already know how to do to help your business grow! Start bartering today!
